Resilience

In my work I use the definition on resilience from Dr. Michael Ungar:
“In the context of exposure to significant adversity, resilience is both the capacity of individuals to navigate their way to the psychological, social, cultural and physical resources that sustain their well-being, and their capacity individually and collectively to negotiate for these resources to be provided in culturally meaningful ways. “ (See also Ungar, 2008 and Ungar, 2011)
Research shows that everybody has the potential to resilience. To promote resilience we will look at the child’s unique resources and how these are constructively met by the resources of the parents, family, friends, caretakers, teachers and other people who are important and supportive for the child.

There are also resources who promote resilience in the community, culture and religion.
